One of the most daunting tasks as an "Allergy Parent" is shopping for groceries. This is especially hard when you are trying to avoid multiple things. I have found that going into the store, preferably kid free, is time consuming, but beneficial. You can physically pick up the items, read the ingredients and compare various brands. Whole Foods is a great place to start. Sprouts has a decent selection too. Our biggest problem is the tree nut, soy and dairy allergies combined. We have to avoid many of the alternative milk products (soy, almond, cashew, coconut). That is Sprouts main milk alternative though, so it didn't help us. They also lack a frozen food section at Sprouts. A staple for many of our quick fix dinners are the Amy's brand and Diaya brand frozen mac-n-cheese or frozen pizza. Kroger and Publix also have nice "natural/alternative" section as well.
We also discovered ThriveMarket.com. They only sell non-parishable items, but you can use their menus to weed out items that you are trying to avoid. You wind up with a list of things that are allergy free for you from which you can shop. It is a membership website, but they offer a 30 day FREE trial. After that it is around $60 a year to continue to use their site.
Not surprisingly, Amazon.com is another great resource. You can buy in bulk and have it shipped to you. If you are a Prime member, you can often get it delivered that same day!
Hope this helps! Let us know where you shop in the comments below.
